What is multi-tenant?

Multi-tenant means that one application serves several customers, with strictly separated data. Below you can read why that matters for portals.

In short

Multi-tenant means that one application serves several customers (tenants), with each customer's data kept strictly separate. In a portal, every customer or partner sees only their own orders, stock and documents, never those of another.

One system, separated data

In a multi-tenant setup, one application runs for several customers or partners (the tenants), while each tenant's data stays strictly separated. Everyone works in the same software, but sees only their own environment.

For a portal this is essential: a customer or supplier may only see their own orders, stock and documents, never those of another. We arrange that separation with scope isolation and roles, at every level of the connection.

Why it counts

Multi-tenant makes a portal scalable and secure: you easily add a new customer without a separate installation, and data leaks between customers are ruled out. It is a hard precondition for any portal that serves several parties.
