What is e-invoicing?

E-invoicing is sending invoices as a data message instead of a PDF or paper. With upcoming obligations it is becoming increasingly important. Below you can read why.

In short

E-invoicing is the sending of invoices as a structured data message instead of a PDF or paper, so that the recipient reads them in and posts them automatically. With upcoming obligations in the EU, e-invoicing, often via PEPPOL, is becoming increasingly important.

Not a PDF, but data

With e-invoicing you send an invoice not as a PDF or paper, but as a structured data message (often in UBL format). The receiving system reads the invoice in and posts it automatically, without anyone having to retype the data. A PDF is meant for people; an e-invoice for systems.

That saves time, prevents typing errors and speeds up processing and payment. For deliveries to the government, e-invoicing is already mandatory in many countries.

Why now?

Within the EU, obligations for e-invoicing between companies are being introduced step by step. Anyone who is prepared sends invoices automatically from their existing administration via a network such as PEPPOL. We set up that flow, so that you are ready before it is required.
