What is an SSCC?

An SSCC makes a pallet or shipment traceable from sender to recipient. Below you can read how it works.

In short

An SSCC (Serial Shipping Container Code) is a unique number for a logistics unit, such as a pallet or parcel. On the packing slip label it makes shipments traceable from sender to recipient, linked to the contents.

A unique number per shipment

An SSCC (Serial Shipping Container Code) is a unique number for a logistics unit, such as a pallet, roll container or parcel. It is on the GS1 packing slip label and is linked to the contents of that unit.

By scanning the SSCC on receipt, the recipient immediately knows what is on the pallet, without counting each item separately. So a shipment stays traceable through the entire chain.

SSCC and EDI

The SSCC works together with the electronic shipping notice (DESADV in EDIFACT). The recipient knows in advance which SSCCs are coming and what is in them, and can process the receipt quickly and error-free. We connect those messages and labels to your WMS and ERP.
