AES wanted to open up its data and let customers order directly, without a heavy webshop project.
AES International trades internationally in branded products. For a long time, customers could not tell what was in stock without calling or emailing, and every order went through the sales department. The wish was clear: open up the assortment and stock directly, and let customers order themselves, without the overhead of an expensive, elaborate webshop.
This could not be a bare product list. There were hard requirements: correct items that run along automatically with AFAS Profit, delivery addresses per customer, and order thresholds in both quantities and money. Ordering was only allowed from a full pallet and a minimum order value, and stock had to be shown realistically, never more than is available.
